Events and Trainings
Youth Congress Students
in grades 7 through 12 attend Youth Congress in the fall of each school
year to discuss issues of concern and develop local prevention action
plans for affecting change in their school and their community.
Consortium member schools may send up to 24 students and 2 sponsors at
no fee. Additional students and sponsors require a per person fee.
Non-consortium schools are invited to attend on a space available basis
at the per person rate.
NAESP Youth Leadership Conference Student
leadership teams of four students in grades 5 or 6 per school are
invited to participate int he NAESP Youth Leadership Conference in the
fall. The ESU 10 SDFSC Consortium sponsors students from consortium
member schools by paying their registration fees (if requested prior to
registration) and providing financial support for the conference.
Kids CAN...
Kids CAN...stop bullying! Fourth grade teams
of 2 to 6 students per school participate in a one day conference
appropriate to their age group. Students teams develop awareness of
a bullying and develop a plan to carry the message back to their local
school. Teams must be accompanied by one adult sponsor. Consortium
member schools attend at no fee; non-consoritum member schools are
invited to attend on a space available basis at a per person fee.
Kids CAN...be heroes! Seventh and eighth
grade teams of 6 to 8 students per school participate in a one day
conference appropriate to their age group. Student teams develop
awareness of bullying and related intervention and prevention
strategies and develop a plan to carry the message back to their local
schol. Teams must be accompanied by an adult spnosor. Consortium
member schools attend at no fee; non-consortium member schools are
invited to attend on a space available basis at a per person fee.
Crisis Management/Crisis Team Training Crisis Response Teams are trained by Dr. John Dudley
who offers six levels of training. Generally two to three trainings
are offered annually, with the levels of training alternating from year
to year. Consoritum member schools attend at no fee; non-consortium
member schools are invited to attend on a space available basis at a
per person fee of $50 per training. Red Ribbon Week Red
Ribbon Week is held each October. ESU 10 SDFSC Consortium member
schools may request Red Ribbons from the consortium by completing a
request form that identifies prevention and awareness activities that
will accompany the distribution of the ribbons to students, staff,
and/or parents and community members. Consortium member schools are
asked to forwad their request for 3-4 weeks prior to Red Ribbon Week so
that ribbons can be ordered and delivered to schools via the ESU 10
route delivery service. COLLABORATION WITH OTHER PROGRAMS, GRANTS, OR AGENCIES
Health The ESU 10 Consortium is hosting First Aid and CPR training in support of the Nebraska mandate, Attack on Asthma.
Training in First Aid and Adult/Childr CPR certication, CPR
re-certification, and First Aid/CPR Instructor training is being
offered at ESU 10 by the Ft. Kearney Chapter of the American Red Cross.
All participants, including consoritum-member schools, must pay the
course fees which vary depending on the type of training.
Techology In collaboration with the ESU 10 Network and Information Services Department, the SDFSC Consortium is offered training for implementation of i-SAFE,
a K-12 internet safety curriculum. The i-SAFE curriculum materials,
and related resources, are available for checkout from the ESU 10 SDFSC Recource Library.
Regional Prevention Agencies Region III Behavioral Health Services
provides technical assistance and additional support and resources for
developing, funding and/or administering prevention programs. Region
III service area includes ten of the eleven counties served by ESU 10.
