Title II-A: High Quality Teachers and Principals

Title II-A is one of the components of the 2001 federal legislation, called NCLB or No Child Left Behind.  Its purpose is to develop and sustain high quality teachers and principals.

Title II-A supports a variety of workshops at ESU 10 and at school sites in the following categories:
  • Leadership
  • Curriculum
  • Instruction
  • Assessment
  • Classroom Management
Schools that are members of the 2007-2008 Title II-A Consortium are:
Amherst
Arnold
Elm Creek
Sandhills
Anselmo-Merna
Broken Bow
Lexington
Sargent
Ansley
Callaway
Litchfield
Shelton
Arcadia
Elba
Pleasanton
Wood River

All schools are eligible to apply for Title II-A grant funding via an application process from the Nebraska Department of Education. Some ESU 10 districts have chosen to consort their funds for Title II-A, and teachers/administrators from member districts who attend these trainings/sessions are eligible for substitute reimbursement of $100 per day or off-contract stipends of $150 per day.

All ESU 10 districts may attend Title II-A supported sessions, but non-consortium schools may need to pay for registration costs, and participants will not be reimbursed for substitutes or for off-contract stipends from ESU 10.

Contact Paula Mellinger at pmelling@esu10.org, Chad Dumas at cdumas@esu10.org,  or Gaylene Mays at gmays@esu10.org for more information or eligibility status regarding any session supported by the ESU 10 Title II-A Grant.
